Traditions & Encounters
An excellent book. It covers so many time periods. This is a book I will definitely keep even after class is over. It is so interesting to read how things and ways of life used to be.

Good value
This book was required for a class I am taking. The price was great on here, and as far as textbooks go, this is a good one. It is interesting, fast-paced and informative.

Product Description
Based on Bentley and Ziegler's best-selling, comprehensive survey text, Traditions & Encounters: A Brief Global History provides a streamlined account of the cultures and interactions that have shaped world history. The text's strong hallmark themes of traditions (the formations and development of the world's major societies) and encounters (cross-cultural interactions and exchanges) bring focus to the human experience and help turn the giant story of world history into something more manageable to teach and learn. At the same time, an effective part structure organizes developments into seven eras of global history, putting events into perspective and creating a framework for cross-cultural comparisons. With an engaging narrative, visual appeal, extended pedagogy, and a strong emphasis on critical thinking, this concise version offers enhanced flexibility and affordability without sacrificing the features that have made the complete text a favorite among instructors and students alike. REQUIRED TEXTBOOK BUT DISORGANIZED & CONFUSING LAYOUT
This textbook is required for the HIS 103 & 104 classes at Ashford University, so a review is probably not going to matter. I found the layout of the book not only disorganized, but confusing as well, because you really have to search the chapters for the information to answer the assignments and sometimes the answers contradicted each other. I also felt that the information did not go into as much depth as I would have liked it to and just skimmed the details. As a student, you don't have a choice in your textbooks, but I personally wouldn't recommend this book as a useful learning tool, although it did help that the first half of the book was used for HIS 103 and the second half was used for HIS 104, keeping me from shelling out additional money for a second book.
